Ghyll
Farm takes its name from the small stream that runs through the
property and alongside the track. Red Squirrels are seen regularly
feeding in the garden. Buzzards, Tawny owls, Goldfinches, Goldcrests
and Greater Spotted Woodpeckers are frequent visitors. In the summer
you can watch England's only breeding pair of Ospreys on nearby
Bassenthwaite.
We
are at the end of a private single-track road with no through traffic,
surrounded by fields and grazing sheep from the neighbouring working
farms. There are footpaths from the track and you can walk from
your door into the fells. Ennerdale Lake is only a mile away and
the small village of Ennerdale Bridge is just over a mile and a
half away.
