Ghyll Farm provides comfortable Bed and Breakfast accommodation for up to seven persons.

Chris & Roger Parker moved to Ghyll farm at the end of 2003 having been visiting the lakes on walking holidays for a number of years. They hope to provide the high quality of accommodation and facilities that they demand themselves.

Ghyll Farm ceased to be a working farm in the middle of the last century and now consists of only our home Ghyll Farm, Ghyll Cottage (a private residence) and three B & B rooms in a seperate barn conversion, so if you need lots of neighbours this isn't the place for you.

Ghyll Farm takes its name from the small stream that runs through the property and alongside the track. Red Squirrels are seen regularly feeding in the garden. Buzzards, Tawny owls, Goldfinches, Goldcrests and Greater Spotted Woodpeckers are frequent visitors. In the summer you can watch England's only breeding pair of Ospreys on nearby Bassenthwaite.

We are at the end of a private single-track road with no through traffic, surrounded by fields and grazing sheep from the neighbouring working farms. There are footpaths from the track and you can walk from your door into the fells. Ennerdale Lake is only a mile away and the small village of Ennerdale Bridge is just over a mile and a half away.

There are no street lights and no light pollution which, on a clear night, provides an unrivalled night sky. However you may find a torch a useful addition.
